What we do

LIGNIS Limited is an independent importer and wholesaler of Eucalyptus timber. Through our partner network we offer high-quality cut timber and timber products from FSC certified forests located in Southern & Central Africa.

We sell direct to the general public. However, we would also welcome trade enquiries from any businesses wishing to become stockists.

First of all

Sustainable Timber Solutions

Eucalypts are the fastest growing hardwood trees and are widely considered to be the most sustainable. There are more than 700 species in the Eucalyptus genus, each with its own set of characteristics. We select the best species for every application based on the required appearance, durability, hardness, strength, and moisture resistance.

Not to mention

Applications

Eucalyptus is an extremely versatile genus in terms of uses. In Africa and Australia, Sydney Blue Gum is the go-to timber for internal and external cladding, decking, skirting, architrave, flooring, fencing, gates, doors, sleepers and garden furniture. Eucalyptus Cloeziana is in a league of its own for commercial applications like electricity / telephone transmission poles and for marina construction.

And, with the british climate, let's not forget

Timber preservation and colour treatment

Our timber is all pressure treated with environmentally-friendly Boron (which is colourless), further adding to its durability. LIGNIS has developed an affordable and highly effective range of wood stains for treating eucalyptus. These are available in many colours. Please ask us for details.

Our Story

We are a group of entrepreneurs in the UK and Southern Africa aiming to disrupt the UK timber market. We believe that in terms of physical characteristics and sustainability, Eucalyptus timber offers huge advantages over both soft and hardwoods currently sold in the UK. We also know that developing this business will provide tremendous benefits for the millions of people in rural Africa for whom forestry is a vital pathway for economic development and improved livelihoods.
